Buy a fishing rod licence

Anyone over the age of 12 fishing in fresh waters must have a valid rod licence. You can buy these online at the Environment Agency website.

Overview

If you are caught fishing without a licence you could be fined up to £2,500.

You can buy the following licences online:

  • full licences
  • junior licences (12 to 16 year olds)
  • eight day licences
  • one day licences

Whichever licence you choose, it will cover fishing for coarse fish and non-migratory trout only, or include migratory salmon and sea trout. You can also buy these licences by calling 0870 1662 662.
