New Deal for Partners

If your partner is claiming benefit for you, you could join the Jobcentre Plus New Deal for Partners programme. Get help and support to look for work, including training and preparing for work.

New Deal

New Deal aims to help you get a job if you are out of work. It will give you the chance to train, learn and do work experience so that you:

  • can become more confident
  • get new skills
  • can be worth more to people looking for staff
  • can find and stay in work

New Deal for Partners

If your partner is claiming benefit for you, you could join the New Deal for Partners programme and get a range of help. You could be offered help including advice and guidance on training, finding work and childcare, and may be able to take part in other government schemes. It is a voluntary programme so you can choose whether or not you want to take part.

Who is eligible

New Deal for Partners is available to partners of people claiming any of the following benefits:

  • Jobseeker's Allowance
  • Employment and Support Allowance
  • Income Support
  • Incapacity Benefit
  • Carer’s Allowance
  • Severe Disablement Benefit
  • Pension Credit

You can also join New Deal for Partners if:

  • your partner gets Pension Credit and you are working less than 24 hours a week
  • if you or your partner get Working Tax Credit and you are working less than 16 hours a week
