Reporting polluted land and water

If you have concerns about polluted land or water pollution in your local area, you should contact your local authority.

Contacting your local council

Your local authority keeps a list of polluted land and inspects and assesses any land that may be polluted. It then takes any necessary ‘clean-up’ action.

A pollutant is any substance that is introduced the land or water that should not normally be present. This could be chemicals from landfills that have leaked into the soil or water, or gases and from old gasworks or factories.

The following link will let you enter details of where you live and then take you to your local authority website where you can find out more.
