Holiday accommodation in the UK

Thinking of taking a few days off to visit another part of the UK? Need to find a hotel or bed and breakfast for a visiting friend or family member? The information and links on this page provide a useful introduction to holiday accommodation in Britain.

Accommodation standards

Quality assurance is important when you're looking for somewhere to stay. The National Tourist Boards visit holiday properties each year to award and review ratings based on quality. You can use these ratings and standards to help you find suitable accommodation. You can also search for different types of holiday accommodation on the Visit Britain website.

Tourist Information Centres

Local Tourist Information Centres (TICs) offer access to detailed, up-to-the-minute information. They also provide useful services such as accommodation booking. All TICs perform to national and regional standards and offer access to information you may not find in guide books.

Each TIC is staffed by local people who understand their visitors' needs and expectations and know their area well. They offer information and advice on places to visit, events, accommodation and local transport systems. You can purchase a range of items from TICs, including maps, guides and entertainment tickets. You also can arrange for staff to book your accommodation upon arrival or in advance.

Search the Visit Britain website to find a Tourist Information Centre close to your chosen holiday destination.
