Register now for 1 May local elections

Local elections will be taking place across Wales and parts of England, as well as the Greater London Authority election, on 1 May. You must be registered before you can vote in these elections. The deadline to register to vote is 16 April.

If you are unsure whether you are on the register or you would like to check your details, you should contact your local electoral registration office.

16 April 2008 - Deadline for registering to vote

16 April 2008 - Deadline for applying for a new postal vote for this election, and for changing or cancelling an existing postal vote or proxy vote

23 April 2008 - Deadline for applying for a new proxy vote for this election

5pm, 1 May 2008 - Deadline for applying for a new proxy vote on the grounds of a medical emergency

1 May 2008 - Polling day - polling stations are open from 7.00 am until 10.00 pm
