There will be an extra bank holiday in June 2012 to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
The Diamond Jubilee celebrations will centre around an extended weekend in 2012 on 2, 3, 4 and 5 June. Find out what is being planned to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee and how you can take part.
The bank holiday for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee will be on Tuesday 5 June. To form a long weekend of celebration the late May bank holiday will be moved to Monday 4 June.

When is the best time for a bank holiday?
At present there are two bank holidays in May. The DCMS is considering options to move a bank holiday from May to another month. The early May bank holiday is candidate for the move, but other options have not been ruled out.
If you'd like to help select a date when a bank holiday should be celebrated, do visit the DCMS website to reposnd to their pre-consultation. You can offer your suggestions for which holiday to move, and what the 'new' bank holiday should commemorate.
