A summary of the reforms to NHS and health services announced in the Spending Review of 20 October 2010.
The Chancellor announced in the Spending Review that total health spending would rise above inflation each year - the NHS budget will rise from £103.8 billion to £114.4 billion by 2014-15.
In addition, the Spending Review provides an additional £2 billion by 2014-15, through health and local government, to support social care and encourage greater integration between local health and social care services.
The NHS will release up to £20 billion by 2014 through efficiency savings, which will be reinvested to support improvements in quality and outcomes.
