A group of young people living in Salford got together after working on a radio project. Most of them had left home because of family problems and were living in Salford Foyer, a place that provided supported housing for 16 to 25 year olds.
The group had really enjoyed working on the radio project and wanted to develop their media skills by getting more training and equipment.
They asked the Foyer project workers if they could help them. They got a room to use and supported by the Foyer workers they applied for funding from Salford's Youth Capital Fund, which is part of the Salford Youth Service.
The project was awarded more than £50,000 to pay for a media centre and recording studio for all young people in Salford.
They also received funding to train the Foyer residents group to become studio technicians.
The project means that the teens in supported housing now want to learn new skills in the studio.
Young people living in the Foyer have got to know people they wouldn't otherwise have met, and they enjoy taking responsibility for their new roles.
